I came up in marketing, not engineering. Years in CRO and growth before I shipped my first proper site. The frustration was always the same: the prettiest sites converted the worst, and the agencies building them didn't seem to care.
So I learned to code. Not because I love programming, because I love what a good site does to a small business's quarter.
